Thought I’d get these unicorns out there all at one time. The first two are more Jaguar XK’s, the cars that I have always loved but never bought. My very first blog in August, 2017 included one. I found a 2010 XKR selling for less than $25,000 a few years ago. Tracked a 2007 model that wouldn’t sell until it dropped $3,000 to $19,000. And if you really want to be amused, check out this saga of my 500 mile round trip journey to buy an XK that wouldn’t start! I passed. Anyway, below you’ll find this pretty 2012 Jaguar XK selling for only $29,998 and this 2015 model for $38,998. Both are in Riverside, California.
Something a little different below. A 2016 Jaguar F-Type with a six-speed manual transmission. Yeah, it’s only a 340 hp supercharged six cylinder motor, but there aren’t a lot of three-pedal Jaguars sold in the USA anymore and you’ll have bragging rights at Cars and Coffee. The car will still do a five second 0-60 mph sprint and top out at 161 mph. And it’s hot red and as attractive as the XK it replaces. As a 2016 it’s still under Jaguar’s five year, 60,000 mile warranty. And as I write the CarMax webpage notes the F-Type is “In Transit – This car is being transferred.” I’ve seen cars listed as Currently Unavailable but seeing the reason is new to me! This car was in Sanford, Florida when I started writing but the “In Transit” now lists the new location as Burbank. Here’s the link if you want to track it.
Almost three weeks ago I wrote about a black 2015 Jaguar XF R selling for $35,998 with 33,000 miles here. It was in Riverside like the two XK’s above. Today we get it’s twin in white – a 2015 XF R for $38,998 but only 23,000 miles. It’s a lovely sedan, and what makes it a unicorn is the outrageous 510 hp supercharged V-8 power plant. Makes the family hauler fast as hell – 4.3 seconds to 60. This beauty is here in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Jaguar XJ50 below is not cheap at $70k but it is a limited edition 50 year anniversary model commemorating the long, long run of this exquisite British saloon. The original 1968 model sported a straight-six motor, the 1972 XJ12 was the first mass produced V-12 in a four door sedan, and this big Jaguar comes with a 470 hp supercharged V-8 engine. The XJ50 is a bundle of special badging, limited colors, and “XJ50” logos. It’s certainly luxurious and yet not finding anything about just how limited this limited edition really is. No indication that it’s one of the 300 “Collection” units sold in the US. It’s currently here in Fairfield, California.
Finally, A station wagon. There’s an enthusiastic community of wagon lovers out there. My Dad used to be one of them. We had Rambler wagons, Chevy wagons with a third row rear facing seat, and even an Opel Kadett wagon (for a family of six – what was he thinking?!). I think of getting one in his memory from time to time. There was a 7,000 mile E63 AMG wagon for $60k at CarMax once. Anyway, here’s a very nice 14,000 mile 2018 Jaguar XF S First Edition for $49,998. Sold for about $75,000 new. A “sportbrake” as they say. Why is it called that, you ask? Professor Google once told me, “the name Sportbrake comes from “shooting brake,” an old term the English used for a horse carriage — and later a car — that carried a hunting party and its gear. It had a long cargo space to provide room for guns, dogs and game, while the passenger compartment carried hunters in comfort.” Now you know. This estate has a 380hp supercharged six, air leveling suspension, and AWD. Motor Trend reports that only 20 First Editions came to the US in “Farallon Black, a metallic paint with subtle flakes of red and blue that’s typically reserved for use by Jaguar Land Rover’s SVO personalization division.” Says these 20 come with an upgraded Meridian audio system. This wagon is black and has said Meridian radio. Is it 1 of 20? Don’t know, but I do know the car is available here in Parker, Colorado. Your hound dogs will love it.
